Peter Birtwhistle

A graduate of the world famous Royal College of Art, Peter studied automotive design. After a short term working as a designer at Vauxhall Motors, Luton, he moved to Germany. Holding positions at Audi and Porsche. In 1988 Peter was approached by the Japanese company Mazda to help them create a design center at Oberursel, north of Frankfurt. As Chief Designer for Mazda Europe, he retired in 2013.

Upon retirement Peter returned to his native England where he spends much of his time painting automotive subjects. His story of his career in car design is documented in his book ‘An English Car Designer Abroad’.
